A mini-storm is still a storm.  A very tiny circulation in the Bay of Campeche has a small circulation with thunderstorms near the center, so as of 11am this morning we are tracking Tropical Depression #13.  The center of circulation is over the warm water of the Gulf and the upper-level winds are light so Tropical Depression #13 should intensify until landfall near Veracruz, Mexico in 24 hours.  Small tropical systems can intensify faster than large tropical systems so Tropical Depression #13 will likely become Tropical Storm Marco tonight.  With only 24 hours until land interaction, Marco will likely only have time to spin up to a moderate tropical storm with winds of 40-50 miles per hour.  The threat will be flash flooding and mudslides as Marco moves into the high terrain of Central Mexico on Tuesday.

100608 td13.jpgReturning back home, the weather is active in the Central U.S. and Northwest.  A slow moving storm is located over Oklahoma and moving slowly Northwest with a large shield of clouds and light rain.  The only threat from this system will be any late afternoon thunderstorms that can form near the center of low pressure.  The temperatures are chilly aloft compared to the surface so small cells producing hail are possible.  An isolated weak tornado is also possible with any storms that form near the low center over Central Oklahoma.  The severe weather threat will end quickly after the sunsets.

100608 severe weather.jpgThe next storm to watch is the storm entering Washington state and British Columbia.  This storm will move ashore tonight with gusty winds and rain.  After the cold front moves onshore the temperatures will fall quickly with snow levels dropping to pass levels Tuesday.  A few inches of snow are possible in the Northern Cascades by Tuesday Night.  The weather will improve for everyone in Seattle and Portland by Wednesday.
