Are Taxis Going Green?

Copenhagen, Denmark is claiming to be the world's greenest city. And with the results shown so far, this statement may in fact not be too far from the truth.

City officials in Copenhagen are pushing for local taxis to become more environmentally friendly.

This move comes as another step forward in Denmark's previous Eco-friendly measures. So far, the city has successfully reduced its carbon emissions by 25 percent since 1990.

But not everyone agrees with the move, including the current company in charge of running the city's taxis. They claim the switch would be too expensive.

Despite concerns, the city has gone ahead and earmarked funds for a pilot project. This would allow alternative fuels and other energy-saving devices to be implemented in taxis.

With such impressive results, Denmark's success could spark interest in Eco-friendly measures taken by countries elsewhere.
